In 2009, the School board approved works around the grounds which address the continued safety and welfare of students at NVCCS. This has included a new dividing fence between the car park and tarmac playing area as well as improved guttering and leaf stopper aluminium gutter guard on the main classroom block.

A combined working bee with members of the Nambucca Presbyterian Church and the School Community saw the reduction of vegetation along the Pacific Highway side of the school.

Employment of local businesses included Moore's Fencing of Macksville and Sheldon's Plumbing of Coffs Harbour.
